About the Role

You’ve nailed the basics. Now it’s time to level up.

You’re in accounts. You’ve been balancing books, posting journals, prepping month-end figures — maybe even dipping into some VAT or management accounts. You know your debits from your credits, and you’ve been the quiet backbone of your team more times than anyone’s noticed.

But here’s the thing: you’re not here to tread water.

This firm gets that.

They’re one of the UK’s most respected accountancy firms, with a serious presence in the market and a real commitment to growing from within. Their Cheltenham office is known for combining high-quality client work with a friendly, ambitious culture where people don’t get lost in the crowd.

Now, they’re looking for an Accounts Associate who’s already had a taste of accountancy life and wants to push further.

What you’ll be doing:

You’ll be part of a close-knit accounts team supporting a range of clients — from entrepreneurs and SMEs to complex corporate groups. Expect hands-on involvement in:
  • Preparing year-end accounts for limited companies, sole traders, and partnerships
  • Working on VAT returns, bookkeeping, and management accounts
  • Supporting senior staff with client queries and developing client relationships
  • Getting exposure to cloud accounting tools like Xero and QuickBooks

This isn’t a checkbox role. It’s a real opportunity to grow in technical strength, gain client-facing experience, and build toward qualification with a firm that backs you.

What they’re looking for:
  • 1–2+ years’ experience in an accountancy practice (you know what a working trial balance looks like and aren’t scared of a deadline)
  • Already working towards AAT, ACCA or ACA — or thinking about starting
  • Solid understanding of double-entry bookkeeping principles and software like Xero or Sage
  • Someone who’s switched-on, curious, and ready to take ownership

Salary is up to £35k, depending on experience, with full study support and a clear path for progression. Hybrid working is available (typically 2–3 days in the office), and you’ll be joining a team where people genuinely enjoy what they do — and who they do it with.
